katnapps asked: What would you suggest doing to promote hair growth? Thanks :)
Let’s start from root to tip.
Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp, so I would make sure that you clean that scalp at minimum once a week. Don’t scratch it, but gently massage it with the pads of your fingertips. You should also do scalp massages on occasion to stimulate blood flow and circulation.
Keep your hair moisturized. Condition in the shower, deep condition at least once a week, and get some protein in your hair shaft on occasion for strength. Make sure you use a leave-in conditioner and seal in that moisture.
Protect your ends! You don’t HAVE to keep them tucked away in order to protect them, just make sure you keep them well moisturized and sealed. Butters and Jamaican Black Castor Oil are particularly good for your ends.
Don’t forget to always sleep with a satin pillowcase at the very least. You can use a silk or satin scarf to tie your hair down at night or use a similar bonnet, but make sure you have an appropriate pillowcase as a safety net.
Some folks swear you have to do protective styling all the time in order to retain length, but I’m not one of them. If you’re gentle with your hair (especially when detangling) and keep it healthy, you should be able to retain much of your hair growth.
